Kathmandu. Nepal has defeated Japan in the final match of the group stage of the women’s T-20 series involving four countries. This is a consolation victory for Nepal, which was defeated in the first and second matches. Nepal and Japan are already out of the title clash of the ongoing series.
Chasing the target of 114 runs, Japan scored only 46 runs after losing 10 wickets while playing 20 overs. Nepal won by 67 runs. Apart from Japan’s Meg Gawa, who scored 17, and Seik Sumi, who scored 13, no other player could score double figures.
Earlier, Nepal, who batted first, scored 113 runs for the loss of four wickets. Rubina Chhetri scored the highest 38 runs for Nepal. Similarly, captain Indu Burma contributed 27 runs, Pooja Mahato 13 runs, and Sita Ranamargar 9 runs. Kajal Shrestha scored 15 and Asmina Karmacharya remained unbeaten by one run.
Elina Kusuda Nairn of Japan took two wickets, and Meg Gawa and Ayumi Fujikawa took one wicket each. Nepal, Tanzania, and Japan are participating in the women’s T-20 series, along with host Hong Kong. In the ICC ranking, Tanzania is 19th, Nepal is 21st, Hong Kong is 22nd, and Japan is 51st. Tanzania and Hong Kong will play to win the title.
